ABOUT
TRC

Thailand Rice Convention (TRC) is an international forum, initiated by Thailand, for rice trade stakeholders throughout the value chain to connect, learn and share. Since its inception in 2001, the Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce, has regularly played host to this biennial event with ever-increasing interest from key players in the rice trade and related industries in Thailand and worldwide.

TRC 2019 is set to take place from 27-29 May 2019 at the Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at Central World. Continuing with the concept of “Rice + Innovation”, the TRC 2019’s theme, “Rice Style: The New Global Lifestyle”, is in fact the extension of the TRC 2017’s “Rice PLUS: NEXT STEP of Innovation”. It aims at reinforcing the country’s internationally-recognized stature as a world leader in rice trade and export while promoting rice and rice-based innovative products in the modern global lifestyle. Concurrently, the event also highlights the vast varieties and unique characteristics of Thai rice such as the fragrance, nutritional values, and medicinal properties.

TRC 2019 is not only an international platform for rice traders and stakeholders along the rice value chain from Thailand and worldwide to share their views, experiences and visions on global rice market, but also an opportunity to enhance partnership among trading partners, regulators and members of rice-related organization in both the private and public sectors from around the world.

As the year 2019 marks a very auspicious time for Thailand with the Royal Coronation of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, TRC 2019 therefore joins the entire nation in celebrating this auspicious occasion with a special exhibition entitled “The Kings and Thai Rice”. A Royal Tribute, the centerpiece of “TRC 2019 Rice Style Exhibition”, honors the monarchs of the Royal House of Chakri focusing on their roles and benevolent patronage in the development of rice cultivation and particularly the bond between the Royal Family and the farmers. Other features of the exhibition are the display of advanced technologies and innovation in the upstream, midstream and downstream of rice value chain in Thailand 4.0 economic model as well as the countless benefits of rice towards consumers, communities and the environment.
